Mark Thompson is a media executive who is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ancestry.com. In 2000 he left the BBC to become Chief Executive of Channel 4, only to return in 2004 to serve as Director General until 2012. Following this tenure he joined the New York Times Company as CEO, serving until 2020.
