Kathleen McCormack is Professor Emerita, Department of English, Florida International University. Her books include George Eliot and Intoxication: Dangerous Drugs for the Condition of England (2000, 2001), George Eliot’s English Travels: Composite Characters and Coded Communications (2005), and George Eliot in Society: Travels Abroad and Sundays at the Priory (2013).
